There is currently no funding available through the Community Housing Improvement Program (CHIP).The City of Oregon intends to make application for the FY2010 CHIP. This program provides financial assistance to eligible property owners within the City of Oregon for code violations, general property improvements, and down payment assistance for potential homebuyers. The proposed activities could include PRIVATE OWNER REHABILITATION to bring a home up to code requirements, HOME REPAIR for repair of one or two health and/or safety items, DOWNPAYMENT ASSISTANCE to provide down payment and/or closing cost monies for potential homebuyers, HABITAT FOR HUMANITY to provide funds to the local Habitat affiliate for new construction, and TENANT-BASED RENTAL ASSISTANCE to provide funds to the local housing authority for rental assistance. A portion of the grant is also set aside for administration and Fair Housing costs. Outlined below is general information for this program: · The time frame for the program is expected to be September 1, 2010 through October 31, 2012 · The City plans to submit an application to the Ohio Department of Development in the spring of 2010 · This is a competitive program. The Ohio Department of Development will typically announce the funding awards in September 2010 The qualifications for receiving assistance are presented on this web page.
